Creating, evaluating, and analyzing knowledge has a significant impact on student outcomes. After a district training on "Input, Innerput and Output" (you can read more about that here), and a collaboration session between my amazing colleagues Irene Boynton (@ireneb2011) and Amy Phillips, the Digital Workflow was created. Irene, a first grade teacher, had the perfect opportunity to begin using the digital workflow when she noticed that many of her learners were not reading and writing word wall words correctly or with fluency. So, after assessing the class, she assigned a digital project to be completed during Reading/Writing Workshop. It is easy to see how this goes beyond traditional writing words multiple times to learn them. Scholars created screencasts to practice words and teach words to their classmates. With practice, the digital workflow becomes a system that allows learners choice and creates engagement and a sense of ownership of their learning.
